This month we have made great progress; our IR circuit is now near completion on the breadboard and our Proteus PCB design is completed. We haven’t yet submitted it as we believe that we can achieve ultrasonic integration on that board before Christmas, this would allow us to better prototype and calibrate knowing where the sensors will be exactly located and how we can use them in conjunction with other sensors we are integrating. Our main aim going forward is to get the board printed and finalize the breadboard IR circuit. It would also be ideal if we could start work on the line following sensors, this shouldn’t be a big undertaking as we already know the layout of the sensors and I have the advantage that as I used them last year, I still believe I remember many of the common faults with them, meaning that if all goes to plan we can integrate them swiftly. I have also had talks with Dr Davies about further use of the I2C protocol with breakout boards for our line following sensors which I’m eager to start on.
