Keeping the website up-to-date and error-free will be huge during the Micromouse project. Part of this was to ensure there was only one site admin, as the lecturers had informed us that in previous years, estranged students could delete the website and leave the team in the lurch. I also scheduled regular backups of website files onto my personal computer to prevent data loss and facilitate quick restoration in case of emergencies. Furthermore, all software components of the website, including WordPress core, themes, and plugins, will be regularly updated to the latest versions to ensure optimal performance and security. Content will be routinely updated to keep it fresh and relevant, sections such as the gallery and the news tab will be the main source of new content. This enhances user experience and improves our marks for the assessment. Regular user feedback will be solicited and acted upon, which will come from not only members of my team, but members of other groups too, and thorough testing will be conducted across various devices and browsers to ensure compatibility and responsiveness by myself in my spare time. In the event of unforeseen circumstances such as server crashes or hacking attempts, backup plans and contingency measures will be in place to mitigate risks and minimize downtime. Website analytics plug-ins will be utilised to monitor key metrics, enabling continuous improvement based on user behaviour and engagement data. By adhering to this maintenance plan, the WordPress website will remain secure, up-to-date, and user-friendly throughout the assessment period.
