As a future Engineer, I see the responsibilities that I have in this profession, where other people and environments may rely on my judgment and integrity. I have red the Statements of Ethical Principles by RAE and EC, where I understood each point of the principals.

My decisions shouldn’t be swayed by dishonest conduct, such as bribery. I will try and insure that my efforts be transparent and my own, as well as avoid conflict of interests and respect privacy and confidentiality of others.

Having responsibility to guard our living environment as well as society standards and laws. I hope to be able to give proper recognition to all facts and laws, as well as to respect others personal information and property. I will also try and protect and improve our natural and living environment.

Evaluate every information, design and calculation with care to prevent preventable failures and danger to lives and the environment. Keep my knowledge up to date and know the limits of my knowledge, to prevent ignorance to affect my judgment.

Be aware of local and global issues and try to help in solving them, to make this planet a better place.

The IET professional ethic page contains similar ideas as the RAE and EC do, but with more specific guidelines to follow as well as specific rules to protect the IET. In general, the rules do carry the same ideas, but make specific demands, similar to laws and regulations.

I also chose the Code of Ethics for Researchers of the Czech Academy of Sciences as another source of engineering ethics, as this specific code of ethics was already introduced to me during my engineering studies in the Czech Republic. They are arguably also more relevant to me, as the reflect the local rules and regulations closer. Even then, they do have mostly the same ideas, rules and principles as the IET, RAE and EC do.
