Sam’s Commitment to Ethical Principals

Due to the skill that we learn as engineers It is our job as engineers to follow ethical guideline set by the Royal academy of engineering (RAE) and the engineering council (EC). The purpose of these guidelines is to maintain trust in engineers. The IET also gives examples of ethical guidelines to follow two of these examples are “Members shall actively promote public awareness and understanding of the impact and benefits of engineering and technology achievements.” And “Members shall not recklessly or maliciously injure or attempt to injure, whether directly or indirectly, the professional reputation, prospects or business of any other person”.

In our micro mouse team, we must uphold these rules by making sure that within our group there is both honest and integrity making sure that our group is all on the same page. The key to this is maintaining a leadership role that act as an authority figure that people will listen to that ensures that the group works well together. Another massively important code to follow is the safety regulations of all the equipment that we will be using as if improperly used can cause serious harm. By following the rules and using the correct PPE will keep our work environment safe.

To uphold these guidelines as the team manager I will make sure that I will remain honest and provide the best possible communication to my team. Additionally, I will follow all laws and safety regulation to keep my professional responsibility. By the end of this project, I hope to learn the skill required to build or micro mouse both safely and ethically.
