April was the month of the final assessment. We attended Gregynog Hall with a day to make adjustments prior to the testing of our micromouse. Overall, the micromouse performed well on the obstacle avoidance and the technical inspection, despite the lack of unique features. On the other hand, while our white line following worked well for the most part, it lost track of the line on the rare occasion. Furthermore, the bot struggled during the combat demonstration. the IR sensors weren’t functioning as intend and, while incorporating the ultrasonic sensors would have been a good work around, the lack of time to change circuitry meant that we had to fix the code as best as possible before the final combat tournament.
Due to the aforementioned issue, our micromouse struggled in the tournament. Whilst it one a handful of fights, it only progressed to the quarter finals, losing out to the strongest contending mouse at that point in the tournament.
