White Line Sensors:

The purpose of the white line sensors is to use an LED and LDR to differentiate between a

black and white surface. When light is reflected off a white surface the resistance is lower

whereas reflecting off a black surface has a higher resistance.

The components were soldered onto a breakout board with a 330 ohm resistor for the LED

and a 10 Kohm resistor for the LDR. Two breakout boards with a total of 4 LDRs were

attached to the micromouse. Each of these LDRs were tested to see what serial value they

had on both a black and white surface. This helped us to calculate tolerance values for the

white line following and combat modes.

The white line sensors were soldered onto an Arduino Adafruit seesaw board as this allowed

for cleaner presentation of wires and ease of programming.
