April blog: Adam

Throughout the month of April I have been working on the final preparations for the microhouse ready for Gregynog. This includes coding the combat mode, coding the Bluetooth menu + remote control mode, improving the obstacle avoidance code and general improvements to the micro mouse code to make sure its reliable and ready for the final assessment. On the final day before assessment at Gregynog there was an issue with the onboard diode breaking so this caused some delays to our progress and had to be fixed quickly, despite this we were able to get the micro-mouse fully functional in time with all 4 modes working correctly. In the combat competition we were able to make it into the semi finals and were unbeaten in the group stages – despite the initial delays in getting combat mode working and the limited time we had due to the diode breaking. Reflecting on my experience, our team has been resilient to the many challenges we have faced and were able to achieve great results in the combat competition and overall performance of the micro-mouse.
