Maintenance plan for website
Although our main focus has been on the development of the micro-mouse, the continues development and maintenance of the website has been a high priority, Regular updates to the website were made when needed so that the website always stayed up to date with the latest progress on the development of our micro-mouse. To optimize the performance and reduce environmental impact of our website, Images and video uploaded to the website have been compressed, therefor reducing storage space, increasing loading times and reducing the overall environmental impact our website as it takes less computational resources to view a smaller image size.
How sustainability fed into the design
During this project, at every step we analysed how sustainability could feed into our design. For example in combat the micro-mouse only increases its speed when in close proximity to the enemy micro-mouse, This reduced the overall power consumption of the micro-mouse reducing its environmental impact. another example is In line follower mode where the higher speed was not necessary a lower speed than combat was used. Our shell design is also relatively aerodynamic due to its spherical shape, this allows our micro-mouse to travel faster with less aerodynamic drag reducing energy usage. This was a key consideration when designing our shell. Despite our efforts to make our micro-mouse sustainable there are some areas we could of improved on. For example, A few time our white-line sensor broke so we had to make a new one, in hindsight it would of been better to try and optimize the line sensor design to be more reliable.
