Website Maintenance Plan for the Assessment Period
Our micro mouse project is centred on sustainability, so we’re also making sure that our website is kept up to date in a way that aligns with those principles. Maintaining a well functioning website involves more than just keeping everything running smoothly; it also means cutting down on needless digital waste, improving performance, and ensuring users can quickly access the information they need without excessive energy consumption.
We are constantly upgrading and refining our content to maintain efficiency. This includes deleting old or unnecessary files, ensuring all links function correctly, and optimising images to load quickly without taking up too much storage space. By keeping our website lightweight, we reduce the amount of data being transferred, which helps minimise overall energy usage.
To maintain security and performance, we regularly update WordPress, plugins, and themes. Frequent updates ensure the website runs efficiently and protect against security vulnerabilities that could lead to downtime or data loss. We also have automated backups in place to prevent any critical information from being lost. However, rather than storing excessive copies, we only retain the most recent versions to avoid unnecessary digital clutter.
User experience is another key part of our maintenance strategy. We ensure the website is accessible and easy to navigate across all devices, from PCs to smartphones, so users can quickly find the information they need. A well organised, fast loading site reduces the need for unnecessary page reloads and excessive browsing, ultimately lowering energy consumption.
By maintaining our website effectively, we’re not only providing a seamless experience for users but also reinforcing our commitment to sustainability. Whether through the responsible management of our digital resources or the eco conscious design of our micro mouse, we are dedicated to reducing waste and improving efficiency in every aspect of our project.
