Since the middle of this month, we have been working on a miniature mouse project. Grouped by each person’s retrieval of their abilities, I am now a member of Team Hotel. Firstly, the segments of electronic hardware, software, mechanical hardware, sensors, documentation, and web design were assigned through a skills matrix. I was mainly responsible for the documentation section and the mechanical hardware, but there were also many other sections that we had to work on together as a group, which was a good challenge for me as an international student, as there were technical skills to overcome as well as language barriers to break down. Now our group has started to complete some tasks, including website design, electronic hardware and mechanical hardware, and I am now completing the mechanical hardware part, and in the process of installing the miniature mouse, I found that not only do I need to find some parts myself, but also some small parts are very easy to be put in the wrong way or in the wrong position and need to be reworked. All in all, it’s a very good start and I’m looking forward to the next month when we can move forward with the miniature mouse project.
