As engineers we have responsibility to create and innovate for the betterment of mankind, however, we must do so with the vision of moral, ethical and environmental preservation. The Royal Association of Engineering and Engineering Council have set forth Principles that we should strive to follow.

Honesty and Integrity As Intellectuals we need to understand that our ability to make change has an effect the lives of others, because of this we need to hold ourselves to a high standard professionalism. therefore I will endeavor to keep my work standard to the highest degrees of openness, fairness, honesty and integrity that I possibly can. To act in a trustworthy manner, respect contracts in confidentiality and remove myself from situations where conflicts of interest could arise.

Respect For Life, Law and The Environment Our duty to the innovation cannot come before the morality of the rules of society or safety of human life or the environment. I will consider the safety of others and legal parameters in all facets of my work and consider the impact on the environment around me.

Accuracy and Rigour – Accuracy and rigor are some of the most important requirements in our profession. Accuracy can be the difference between an airplane flying across the world or crashing with out warning. this means we have a responsibility of care in all facets of our work the smallest problems can cause the most catastrophic failures.

Leadership and Communication – As groupwork is inescapable in engineering leadership and communication are vital skills to have in order to spread workload and utilize the skillset of all involved. In my career I will promote equality, inclusion and the value in diversity and i will be objective and impartial to team members opinions and points of view. it will also be my duty to challenge statements that cause professional concern.
