Welcome to the News area for Team Hotel, explore what we got up to during our project and as a bonus feel free to browse some interesting articles as recommended by our very own members that dive in to the exciting world of ELECTRONICS!

TIMELINE SECTION:

5th October 2023:

Team Hotel is underway, first we each introduced ourselves to each other and got talking about our hobbies and interests as well as a few other team building exercises to help break the ice.

2nd November 2023:

Our initial lab exercises were now complete and began to start building and testing our Infrared sensors circuit that would be used in obstacle avoidance and combat mode.

9th November 2023:

Early stages of construction was underway and we began testing our touch bars and code to see how our mouse would react when bumping into walls incase we missed any hardware issues. At this stage we did not have our infrared sensors connected to the pico.

23rd November 2023:

Obstacle avoidance mode is almost perfect as we reach the end of our trial stages and are nearing the final stages of our PCB design via Proteus and begin discussing what special feature we could include.

9th December 2023:

Today we began building our white line sensors that would be used in line following mode and combat mode to help keep our micro mouse from falling off the edge. Once again we started by building the initial circuit on a breadboard and hopefully build a couple of prototypes that we could test on our micromouse.

— CHRISTMAS BREAK —

1st February 2024:

Semester 1 exams are now out of the way and we can resume our progress. Our white line sensors are fully operational and working well, our PCB has been printed and components soldered on, leaving only our combat mode and special feature left to deal with.

16th February 2024:

Our special feature has been decided and have begun research of what components we would need and room allocation on our PCB.

3rd March 2024:

Everything is starting to come together, we decided to change our white line sensors for a wider single stripboard piece for the front sensors, regularly updating the website and testing all our features for any bugs in our programme.

16th April 2024:

Our shell design has been printed off, our design is based off the animated sitcom “The Simpsons”, specifically the character “Homer”. We designed our shell so that our micromouse would fit nice and snug inside without falling out or extra screws or drilling required.

19th April 2024:

Everything is ready for Gregynog Hall!, all features are working well but we were having some minor problems with our bluetooth module but after a late night sorting out the coding all was well.

22nd April 2024:

Our Micromouse has been assessed with no problems combined with a presentation.
