Two weeks ago we were assigned to our groups for EG-252. Peter, Henry, Salman and I got off to a strong start, quickly and effectively sorting ourselves into team roles according to our strengths, filling out the document assigned to us known as a skills matrix. Fairly quickly our team website was established, although as of writing it is still undergoing development.
Additional side projects have been started, such as the development of an IR sensor by Peter and experiments with the motors performed by Salman and Henry. Personally, I have begun to design the overall code structure of the micromouse, and we plan to have a full design for the robot assembled by the end of our next meet. With a full design in mind, we will actually be able to visualise exactly how these side projects will fit into the micromouse as a whole.
Overall, progress during this month has been promising, but limited due to a couple of factors. Firstly, only two of the 5 hours a week we have access to the lab is assigned to groupwork, which somewhat limits what we are capable of achieving each week. Secondly, the assignment of groups was delayed by a couple of weeks, effectively meaning groupwork could only commence halfway into October.
