I think diversity has been an extremely strong part of this project, it has promoted students from different backgrounds to mix and form new friendships and working partnerships. To begin with we had some issues with language barriers within the team as everyone on the team were from different international backgrounds so to begin with was an extremely big adjustment to work together. However, we found mechanisms to work together and ensure that all the work was completed to a satisfactory level within the timeframe. Our differing backgrounds meant we all came to the table with uniquely different ideas which massively helped the team when trying to think of new ideas. Alongside this with different strengths it meant that we could work together as a team to integrate everything into the project. It has been a fantastic experience to work in a team, that I otherwise would’ve never considered giving me the ability to expand my own personal experiences and build a strong foundation for a future in a diverse, equal, and inclusive engineering work place.
