Ahmad Adbees – Personal Statement of Commitment to Ethical Principles

Not only do engineers fix things, but they also make the world we live in. I know how much duty there is because I am new to this area. I will follow the general rules of engineering ethics no matter what job I have or what university I’m in.

For students, this means working together to show facts in an honest way. When I do something wrong, I will own up to it and support open conversation. This will create a safe space for learning and stop false information. I will put public safety ahead of short cuts from now on thanks to these rules.

The next time I make something, I will think about more than just how it works. I will also think about how it will impact people and the world. It’s my job as a later engineer to make sure that environmental laws are followed and that tight testing and responsible material sourcing are put in place.

For every price and design choice, it’s important to be right. This means that as a student you need to pay close attention to everything and be ready to fix your mistakes. I’ll make sure to use correct information in the future, and I will be responsible for the quality of my work.

A good way to communicate is more than just saying what you want to say. When I’m in university, I’ll pay attention to my friends and work with them to make a great team.

This website helped me a lot with this blog, providing me ideas of what to speak about specifically, and it gives examples of ethics in engineering.
